Wood as a building material offers a significant
opportunity for building sustainably
due to its unique environmental, economic,
and structural properties.
In Austria, wood grows faster than it is
harvested due to sustainable forestry practices
and favorable environmental conditions,
making it an abundant and environmentally
friendly resource for construction
and architecture. Wood stores carbon dioxide
throughout its life cycle, making it a
climate-friendly building material compared
to energy-intensive alternatives.
A mature tree absorbs about 22 kg of CO₂
annually. The amount we saved by renovating
this building is like planting approximately
842 trees.
Walking and hiking instead of driving by
car reduces our CO2 emissions and local air
pollution – so check out the hiking routes
around here and let‘s start!
